Screw Failure Analysis

On our in-house test benches, we simulate your original screw joint. We screw your components and fasteners with a programmable EC screw spindle.

We measure the following with state-of-the-art sensor technology and measurement electronics:

• Torques
• Angles of rotation
• Preload/clamping forces

In a subsequent analysis, all measured data is evaluated according to your wishes and displayed graphically and in tabular form. Finally, the result of the analysis is documented for you in a test report.

Specifically, these can be:

• Friction torques for adhesive or clamping thread locks according to DIN EN ISO 2320 and DIN 267 T27/28
• Driving and forming torques for direct screwing into plastics, light metals and steel
• Driving and overtightening torques for determining optimal assembly parameters for process planning, including statistical assurance
• Failure torques / load limits of the connection or the fasteners (breakage and overtightening torques)
• Loosening and breakaway torques
• Further tightening torques for determining the residual preload force
• Preload or clamping forces
• Setting phenomena: In long-term and/or temperature tests, we determine the influences of temperature, vibrations and time on the clamping force in your connection. (Retardation or relaxation)
• Rotational speeds and their influences
